Can I apply for a METV visa from Japan as a German citizen?
Hi friends,
I am thinking about applying for a METV visa. I am a German citizen but I am currently in Japan. I know about the DTV rules change, but is the same true for METV or can I still apply through the embassy of a third country?

That's embassy dependant. Ask the Embassy in Japan whether non-residents can apply for a MTEV there or not.

Laos and Vietnam recently enabled people to apply for the METV without proof of residence. We don't know ANY OTHER country where you can apply for the METV if you are not permanent resident. Never heard or read that it would be possible in Japan . . . .It's only possible in your home country or in a country where you hold a permanent residence permit

Vietnam and Laos are the only ones we know of from. Still unsure if it was only due to a lapse of one of the embassy's staff members. It wasn't possible all the years before. It could be discontinued any momentAlex *********

Du kannst vom Ausland auch ein METV beantragen solange du ein Visa hast, was länger geht als das METV.
Ich lebe und arbeite z.B. in den USA und wollte vor den ganzen Änderungen ein DTV beantragen. Wurde aber abgelehnt weil mein Visum vor dem DTV enden würde. Sie haben aber gesagt sie würden mir das METV geben.
Du kannst vom Ausland auch ein METV beantragen solange du ein Visa hast, was länger geht als das METV.
