What is the COVID-19 visa mentioned in Thailand and how can I apply for it?

I’ve seen some posts regarding a COVID-19 visa where some people changed from ED (or another visa) to a Covid-19 visa? What is that exactly?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The term "COVID-19 Visa" is a misnomer; instead, there is a 60-day extension of stay available for individuals unable to travel due to COVID-19. To apply for this extension, one must follow a specific procedure that includes submitting passport documents, a TM30 form, and a declaration from their embassy. The exact requirements may vary by immigration office, and those on certain visas may need to take additional steps first.

There is no such thing as a "COVID-19 Visa". There is a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. To get this extension of stay, you would do the following:

1. You'd go off of whatever extension of stay you're currently on.

2. You'd apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and ant to use their special forms)

4. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy saying they don’t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

IF you are still on your current 90 day single entry Non-O, Non-B, or ED visa, there is no extension of stay to cancel (LOOK at your passport to see if you have a full page sticker that says "visa" or a stamp that says "extension of stay").

IF you are on a tourist visa or a visa exempt, MOST immigration offices require a person to get a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism first. The documents are the same I listed above, except you won't need the letter.

The specific process on how to get off your current extension depends on your existing extension.
