Can I apply for a 12-month Non-O extension with only 14 days left on my current visa in Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTERI have a 3 month Non O married to a Thai visa issiued online from the Canberra Embassy valid until August 27 , I want to apply for a 12 month extension tomorrow , with 14 days left on the visa will they still accept the application? I have all the relevant documents and I am using the 12 months funds method. I have the year statement from the bank, do I need a letter from the bank and the updated passbook to accompany my application? The entry date was May 30 2024 and I will apply at the Buriram office

it sure would have been a better idea to have gone to your immigration office just after you got in to the country on this Non-O and asked them if they'll allow the monthly income method on a new 90 day Non-O đ With only 2 weeks left on your current stamp IF they say they don't, you are gonna be between a rock and a hard place.
Worst case, they say no, you get a 60 day visit thai family extension (which you can get one time) and transfer in 400K baht so you can season it for 2 months and then apply with banked money method.

I did attend the office to ask that very question the day after I arrived and he gave me 3 options , 1 was the 400 k seasoned in the bank , 2 was the affidavit letter from the embassy , which is not an option in my case and 3 the monthly international transfers , I have learnt that they can tell you one thing and the next day itâs something different thatâs why I posted this and thatâs why Iâm going back today to ask , I will post their requirements today after I returnDavid **********

Yes, the different decisions on a regular basis is frustrating. Be ready with action when trying to make transactions. Human being are involved. Just resolve yourself to knowing it may take two trips or extra steps.Remember itâs your life, you might as work hard for it. No one else is!
60 days is a good amount of time to work on the next step.
My point about the visits. I just got a Thai Drivers License. I rode an hour on the bus to get to the driving school with the thought I starting that morning only to find out I canât start. Long story short. It was worth the extra trip I got the entire layout about what to do, what I have to do, even some advice about how to do it and a free ride back to the bus terminal. It took maybe 2-

hours just to get the plan laid out and get all my questions answered and take notes but a week laters Iâve got my drivers license.Appears to me there are no quick answers to anything in Thailand.

sincerely good luck with it, (y)IF for some reason they don't allow monthly income by transfer method, you can buy time with that 60 days "visit thai family" extension

Make sure you get the 400k in the bank before you apply for the 60 days visit family extension to ensure you have the time remaining for it to season for your 12 month extension

You might want to check with your local immigration if they will accept the 12 month method without an affidavit from your embassy, and some now will only accept the 12 month 40k deposits method if you are working inside Thailand.

Not a problem I always apply for my yearly extension with 10 days left on it, just make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

You might not be able to use the â12 months transfer methodâ (if thatâs what you mean) unless youâre income (40K baht) is earned inside Thailand OR your embassy offers to provide you a a affidavit letter to confirm your income if itâs from abroad, and we know the AUS embassy doesnât offer this service. Then youâll need two months seasoning of 400K in a bank account baht to apply.

You are applying for a 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai, so no "minimum remaining days" requirement (that is for the initial in-country visa application, not for extensions).
So application submission tomorrow wouldn't be an issue.

Not sure what you mean by "12 months funds method". If you have funds of 400k baht in your Thai bank account, you should be fine.
If you mean 12 months of bank transfers, you need to check with the Burriram office whether you can use that for the first-year extension. If they don't accept, you may need to put the funds of 400K into your bank account and let it sit for 2 months before you can apply for an extension. In that case, you can apply for 60-day visit Thai family extension first, then apply for a 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai.

And based on recent feedbacks itâs known that Buriram -or at least the IO handling other peopleâs extension in Buriram- donât accept income unless itâs earned in Thailand or you can provide a affidavit letter from your embassy.Reply to
