TLDR : Answer Summary
The user on a Non-O Visa (Thai wife) inquired if a company could issue a work permit without changing their current visa. Answers from the community confirmed that it is indeed possible to obtain a work permit on a Non-O visa, as the labor department is responsible for issuing work permits rather than the company itself. Multiple commenters indicated that there should be no issue in securing a work permit under these circumstances.

there is no issue getting a work permit on a Non-O visa or extension based on being married to a thai.

Yes you are allowed to work on that visa/extension. Remember it is the Labour department who issues work permits, not the company.
