TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for a work permit when signing documents for a business in Thailand appears to be a gray area. Generally, signing your own company documents may not require a work permit, but operational activities, such as signing cheques or documents related to regular business activities, usually do require one. It's advisable to seek legal advice for clarity, especially since definitions of what constitutes 'working' can vary and may be subject to the interpretation of immigration officials.

Signing as company director on documents such as applying for Internet would not require a work permit, but signing cheques would be, as would be filling out forms to check people into a hotel, for example. Basically writing things that are ongoing regular operational activities would mostly technically require a work permit. But signing things to apply for things as the owner or director of the company would not. We had this distinction carefully explained to us by Immigration authorities who made an unannounced inspection.

You can ofcourse sign your own company papers without WP. Yes you need work permit even voluntary free work here. It's easy process if local people can't do work/skill what you offer.. You just need non o spouse or b visa if want apply WP.
usually jealous neighbors or friends burn.. Better do by the book and double check everything with ink papers.. Welcomeđź‘Ť

That’s going to be a hard one to answer. Going back a few years even signing a cheque as a business owner was deemed “working” and therefore required a work permit and relevant visa.
These days it’s a bit more relaxed as what’s construed as “working” but still a very gray area.
