Sorry people. Just trying to help a friend.

Can Chinese passport (People's Republic of China) holder arriving Chiangmai from Manila on February 2, Philippines, with visa on arrival, asks for extension?

So for asking something so simple. Stuff in China is going nuts.

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Chinese passport holder arriving in Chiang Mai from the Philippines with a visa on arrival may not be able to extend their stay. Typically, they receive a 15-day visa on arrival, which is usually non-extendable. However, due to recent circumstances relating to travel restrictions, it is crucial for the individual to visit the immigration office in Chiang Mai to inquire about any possible exceptions or updates regarding their situation. Showing proof of their departure ticket to China may also be necessary when consulting with immigration.

I do not know what is happening, but there are still planes leaving to China, even from Phuket today and on time.

The news from Immigration was that people effected by the virus would not be fined for overstay.

Is everybody effected and can not fly back, I do not know.

For the Chinese or people with travel plans to China, contact your airline company, who have the latest information about the flight status. If there are delays or cancellations that company will help you to deal with Immigration.

There were probably around 200 Chinese at Phuket immigration today. All were apply for extensions. I have no idea if there’s been a change or Phuket is just relaxing the rules for the time being.

Apart from Thai airways stopping flying some chinese routes between the 7th and 14th February, unlike other countries, Thailand don't appear to of have stopped flying any routes.

I believe, the immigration help is mostly for Chinese passport holders that are flying to other countries that may have imposed restrictions causing flight delays and cancellations. Not for Chinese passport holders flying to China other than for those that may experience a delay in their flights.

You mean like the departures from Krabi:

02:10 02:10 Shijiazhuang (SJW) Thai AirAsia X XJ* 820 On-Time

05:00 05:00 Shanghai (PVG) Shanghai Airlines FM 866 On-Time

Ask Chiang Mai Immigration BEFORE on OVERSTAY.

Otherwise Chinese passport holders only get 15 days visa on arrival. No extension is available.

That is the only way you will know for sure. Be sure to show Immigrarion Officer his airline departure ticket to China when you visit Immigration.

I would say no. a Tourist from the Philippines visiting Thailand has nothing to do with cancelled airplanes to China.

Seems a bit weird all this about cannot go back to China. U-Tapao is busy flying people in and out of China. Chinese are still arriving here other than the tour groups

They came from the Philippines, are they not going back there?

They are now on an Thai Airport with a ticket to China?

As SOON as they get here send them to the immigration office in Chiang Mai to find out exactly what is going on.

So, sir, you are saying that he can overstay without consequences?

So far there are no changes in immigration and travel restrictions in Thailand from China. ASEAN has set up a live update site which provides regular updates on travel measures and restrictions. Here is the link:
