TLDR : Answer Summary
No, the 15-day Visa on Arrival for Chinese nationals is not extendable. Visitors must leave Thailand before the expiration of their visa. Some temporary exceptions may exist due to specific circumstances, such as the current situation in China, but generally, extensions are not permitted.

The answer is no, the application will be denied and you get 7 days to leave the country.

Please let us stay away of temporary emergency regulations as at the moment due this virus problem.

Question is about the normal visa.

Normally, the answer is no, and the most you can hope for is a 7 day extension of stay denied. HOWEVER, given what's currently going on in China, and if it's impossible to catch a flight back to China, I would contact the Chinese consulate in Bangkok for advice on what to do..

I can't find an English source for this but my wife who is Chinese has told me due to the current virus situation visitors from certain Chinese cities have an option to extend for 2 months off a VOA to avoid going back to China. However I can't see any English articles that state that. So take it with a grain of salt! It's being shared on WeChat groups for Chinese people in Thailand so I dunno 🤷 not under normal circumstances though that's for sure

Yes this is the document the WeChat groups are sharing. It's in Thai however I don't know all the details! Figured I'd mention in case it helps. All the best

Visa on Arrival is Maximum of 15 days stay. Must have proof of departing ticket. No extension is available.

Chinese citizens can apply for a Tourist Visa while in China using the Thai E-visa application online.
