Can a Non-Canadian Use a Thai Medical Certificate for an OA Visa in Canada?

Someone recently posted about getting an OA retirement visa at the Ottawa Embassy. They stated that you could get the medical certificate from Thailand and use it there. The person that posted it was not Canadian but getting a visa in Canada.

Has anyone from Canada used a medical certificate from Thailand to get the visa? Also did they get it notarized?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on obtaining an O-A retirement visa from the Thai embassy in Ottawa, Canada. Users share experiences regarding the acceptance of medical certificates from Thai hospitals for visa application, with some confirming that Canadian doctors can sign and notarize such certificates. There are also reminders to verify with the consulate regarding visa processing and documentation requirements.

It is just a single sheet of paper basically stating you are healthy. I just took into my Doc. in Canada and he signed it. Then yes I had it notarized along with other documents

I obtained my visa in Ottawa , using mail in service. No problems at all

here's a thought, download the medical certificate, get it signed here, and then when you're back there ready to apply ask them and if they will take it use it, and if they won't take it have a doc there sign it.

here's the form from the ottawa consulate..

On retirement visa: i like to share a recent experience that i hope will be helpful. I obtained my visa (O-A) two weeks ago, in Ottawa Canada. Some learnings:

Medical certificate: they accepted a medical certificate from a Thai hospital (note: it is much cheaper/faster, and less 'weired look' you get when doing certificate in your home country).

Proof of funds: they do accept a statement from your retirement (in usa, called 401k) account

Not all consulate in different cities process all type of visas. Call before!

Call before! the agent at Ottawa was very helpful, and open to answer/clarify

Kevin Mckinley I got my O-A in USA last year...Los Angeles....

printed our account statements and my bank notarized my signature on the documents submitted. Others have had their signature on the submitted statements notarized by Notary service in your area.

I did read that, that is why I am asking. He was talking about a 401K so that is american. never mentioned about the notarized.

Are you sure a nonCanadian can apply for an O-A visa in Canada? Do they have Canadian Residency?
