My husband is Brasilien and gets a Visa on Arrival for 90 days, they told us he can extend the visa for another 90 days. Is that true? Is it a one-time extension? Does anybody have experience with it? I just know the 30 days for me as a European. Please only answer if you really know or you have done it! Thank you so much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Brazilian arriving in Thailand receives a 90-day visa waiver stamp. Generally, this cannot be extended beyond 7 days, but there is a temporary COVID-19 extension allowing for an additional 60 days. After previous periods, like 2018, a 30-day extension was possible post-90 days, but current regulations may differ.

my husband is Brazilian too. We arrived in Thailand in 2021. He got the 90 day visa waiver and got the 60 day covid extension. Before covid (I think it was in 2018), he was able to get a 30 day extension after the 90 days but then had to leave after the extension.

I believe you might be mistaken as they never offered the 30 day exdtension for people entering on a 90 day visa waiver entry.

BUT as I said the O/P CAN try for the covid extension IF the office they use allows it

oh no, Iโ€™m sorry. Yeah, I could be mistaken. I checked with my husband and he said he managed to get a 30 day extension after his 90-day waiver (years ago). But honestly it was a long time ago. โ˜บ๏ธ and yeah, this year, he was successful in getting covid extensions a couple of times.

good to know they were giving covid extensions to 90 day waiver stamp holders (y) That at least should give the O/P some hope they might be able to get one ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanx for the update

First off brazilians don't get visas on arrival ๐Ÿ˜ฎ they get a 90 day visa waiver stamp when they show up here without having bought a visa before they come (because thais get stamped in for 90 days in Brazil)

Be that as it may

Who ever "they" is doesn't know their a** from their elbow about extensions for people on 90 day visa waiver ๐Ÿ˜• He CANNOT get an extension for another 90 days, in fact in normal times he can't get an extension for anything more than 7 days and that gives him a week to get out of the country.

BUT

Because they have the 60 day covid extension program going right now, he MIGHT <- as in may be able to go to the immigration office and apply for a 60 day covid extension for 1900baht. The worst they can say is no and he'd have to leave the country and come back in to get a new 90 day entry stamp.

And I'm answering because I really know, not because I have done it ๐Ÿ˜›

have them try for the 60 day covid extension, it's all they have available to apply for,

if they say no to that at the immigration office they'll have to exit/re-enter to get another 90 days

AND

some land borders won't let 90 day stamp countries bounce out and back SO if that's what they're going to do CHECK before they show up at the border thinking they can get out / back there.

As an argentinian and under the same rules as brazil, tod described perfectly how it is. ive been lucky and ive been getting covid extensions.

yep 5 countries get 90 day visa waiver entry (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru & South Korea)

It's good to know you can get a covid extension from that entry stamp though
@Martin *******
, I thought they had stopped it for people on 90 day stamps once the borders opened ๐Ÿ™‚
