Can Brazilian children extend their stay in Thailand beyond 90 days while waiting for student visas?

Kids with Brazilian passports came visa exempt for 90 days until 17/8/22. Their school claims that sponsoring them for student visas will take a lot longer than 17/8 and kids have to extend visas as they can't be illegal in Thailand when they apply for their student visas. From what I saw Brazilian nationals cannot extend beyond 90 days stay. Would COVID extension work out in this scenario or have to do visa run for the kids?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Brazilian children previously enjoyed a 90-day visa exemption until August 17, 2022, but they now face a dilemma regarding their status while awaiting student visas. The school has indicated that processing the student visas could exceed their current visa-free period. The primary options for these children are either to apply for a COVID extension, potentially supported by documentation from the school, or to leave and re-enter Thailand for a new 90-day stamp.

Sorry to pull those comments, but the kids have two options,

get the covid extensions (perhaps with documentation from the school saying they are working on paperwork for the ED visa) OR border bounce, to get a new 90 day entry stamp.

There isn't a lot of grey area in this those are their choices. All you can do is go try for the covid extension and if it's denied bounce them out and back to get a new 90 day entry stamp.
