If going the soft power route, are the eligibility requirements for the DTV any different than they would be if going the work-cation route?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The eligibility requirements for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) differ depending on the approach taken—soft power versus work-cation. The work-cation route typically involves fewer requirements and is more suited for those looking for a simpler application process. In contrast, the soft power route requires additional documents related to specific courses and may involve fees, though the process is often viewed as less complicated overall. It's advised to check the embassy's website for definitive requirements specific to each approach.

Same visa, different pathways to achieve it. If you are a digital nomad then going the workation is preferable as its free for you to gather all the documents required. However, if you go soft power then you need to pay for the course and attend it. The benefit of the soft power in my opinion, the documents are mostly straight forward and seem to get approved with less hassle.

Have a look at the embassy website you're planning on applying with and see the lists of requirements to compare what is more suitable for your situation

Depends on the embassy with Taipei you need to provide same docs as workcation plus soft power docs.

thanks, I’m just trying to understand the benefit of going the soft power route if you still have to provide the same documentation as work-cation. Seems like soft power would just be an additional fee and unnecessary commitment if solely for the purpose of DTV. Idk maybe I’m missing something?

Anonymous participant HCMC can be ok, some recent posts show requests for proof of income for DTV, others get approved with no questions asked. Make sure you have a 6 months or more course.

Anonymous participant Not all embassies are as demanding as Taipei. You are right SP can be just an additional fee, paperwork etc.. There are embassies you can just submit the SP paperwork like Jakarta. Where are you applying?
