The embassy is asking me for documents about my client for the DTV workcation (I freelance for them). As I don’t think I’ll get the documents, I’m wondering if I can switch the application to soft power as I’m planing to study thai anyway.

Have anyone ever been in that situation (switching the scope of a DTV application) ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on switching their DTV workcation visa application to a soft power visa, as they are facing difficulties in providing the necessary documents for the initial application. A comment mentions that most embassies do not accept Thai language study as a soft power activity, indicating that an education visa might be required instead. Other comments question the user's work status and suggest that switching visa scopes may not be permitted.

Workcation would have you be an employee, freelance and digital nomad would give you clients. What exactly did they ask you for? Post the document request.

after I sent a contract with my client and a letter for the renewal of my contract, they asked for the official business registration of my client.

I agree and know that it’s possible to search online. I got the company number. But they want the document given at the creation to my client. It contains more than the information available publicly. That’s a bit too much in my opinion.

easy to obtain. What's the problem ? They just want to do a little check.

99% certain you can’t change. They don’t even let you fix minor grammatical errors, not going to let you switch track

really good if you decide to go Muay Thai route. They get all documents to you same day, 20kbht for 6 months training. Good luck.

Most Thai embassies do not accept Thai Language as a soft power activity, and will instead tell you to get an education visa.
