TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discussion revolves around the delays experienced in Wise transfers to Thai banks, particularly during the New Year holiday period. Many users confirm that Thai banks are closed for extended holidays from December 31 to January 2, and will reopen on January 5, affecting fund transfer timelines. Users share experiences, noting that while transfers to other banks like Kasikorn are often processed quickly, Bangkok Bank may have longer delays. Some mention that Wise has shifted its processing to Kasikorn Bank, which may impact how transfers are coded for immigration purposes.

I transfer money from Wise to Bangkok Bank before 7am Thai time. It's aways in my account the same day around 2.15pm.
Gypsy *******
Same it said 5hrs and later 5days...
John *******
31, 1 and 2 are holidays

Bangkok bank has been shit since a year ago with wise, it's lucky dip on the day on when you'll receive, other Thai banks is more reliable for instant transfers

Banks receive but are reluctant to pay out. The longer they hold on to funds by not showing funds received on clients' accounts the more interest they accrue for themselves.

If you do a transfer after 1000 and you need it to show up as a Foreign transfer it will not arrive until the following day. The banks here have to do it manually. As already stated banks are closed from tomorrow until Monday.
Lloyd *********
So there are NO banks open on Wednesday, 31st December, really, you have a reference for that?
Ross ********
31st is a public holiday so most banks are shut. The only ones open may be in Malls. The only banks that manually transfer money for foreign transfers will be shut so that is why it will not arrive in your bank until Monday. If you want a reference do a Google search.

Wise sometimes in minutes sometimes in days and I can’t figure out how it decides. Last transfer took 5 days.

I've used wise for 2 years, Barclays UK, to kasikorn, 7 seconds

Closed from close of play on the 30th, reopen Monday the 5th

Peter Barrett Just in case your Immigration wants to see that the money came from abroad, it will become a bit complicated.

If you want to use WISE, they have discontinued the old way that a certain choice of reason for the transfer would show in your bankbook coded as coming from abroad.

They don't offer this any more, for the last step they use their own Kasikorn account, so if you use WISE, it would show as having come from inside Thailand.

You can however get a special statement from the Kasikorn bank to on the relevant transfer. .

the other option would be a direct SWIFT transfer from your home bank to your Thai bank - the exchange rate would not be that good, but it would 100% be coded as having come from abroad

thanks

I’m on an LTR, no issues with banks or immigration- I make a couple of transfers every month no issues, but BB is slower than others
Lloyd *********
Kasikorn bank show transfers from Wise as "Trade Finance Deposit", which is apparently ok with immigration
Greg ***********
@Lloyd ********
yes, but only if you have a Kasikorn account. If you use another Thai bank, the transfer shows as having come from a Kasikorn account inside Thailand (the K account of WISE). In this case you need an extra statement from a Kasikorn bank branch
Lloyd *********
@Greg **********
correct, that's why I changed from BBL to Kasikorn accounts

Money gram.com it takes three minutes to transfer
Sally ********
I just transferred some 2 hrs ago. Received within a few minutes. Banks will be closed on the 1st & 2nd for the New Year like many Countries..
Ronnie ****************
I did transfer to SCB in 5 min
Paul *******
I did a transfer at 14.30 and Baht was in my Kasikorn account in less than 30 seconds
Brian *******
Just looked on wise, said it would be seconds
Ji *************
Transferred 2 separate payments from wise to kasikorn this morning, received in seconds.
Don-Laura *******
I bailed on Wise and use Remitly now - I get my money into BKK in seconds, every time. Rates aren't quite as good as Wise though. Wise has been so slow recently!
HumbleE*******
Time to use SCB? Most of the time money appear in my wife's account after 2-3 mins
Steve ********
Wise transfer to Kasikorn bank 5 seconds
Nigel **************
Yes because Wise now use Kaisakorn as their clearing bank in Thailand not BB any longer
เดแคลน ***********
Sent 2k today through wise, arrived in about 5mins without issue. (Krungthai)
Charles *********
Wednesday open half day
Trustworthy************
Mine wasn’t BB but only took a few mins.
Nigel **************
Yes exactly
Tony *********
Banks are open
Brett ********
I did a wise transfer yesterday wirh wise ans I got my money today you are doing it in New Eve so I would say that is why. Well at least wise to Bangkok bank
Greg ***********
@Brett *******
was it coded in your bankbook as having come from abroad ?
Brett ********
@Greg **********
the post was about the time money clearing, I always have my wise transfer as funds for Thai visa if that is what you mean but nothing was coded in my bank book I use apps
Greg ***********
the reason I ask is because WISE transfers since a few months are coded as coming from inside Thailand. The option to choose otherwise got discontinued by WISE. So if this should be a requirement, I would check the passbook and clear the issue with Kasikorn bank, because this is the bank WISE uses for the last step
Greg ***********
@Brett *******
do you not have to show your updated passbook to Immigration for the next 1-year extension of stay permit? If you use the 12-months bank statement financial proof, don't they require that the monthly transfers need to be coded as having come from abroad ?
Peter ********
Yeah mine the same Monday
**
I send crypto and it’s in my Thai bank within minutes. 🤷🏽‍♂️

The 5th will be normal for a FTT transfer, the Banks this year or next have added in and extra days holiday ✌️✌️✌️ Why not!!! Happy New Year 🙏🙏🙏
Nigel **************
Bangkok Bank transfer always takes 24 hours. Next 3 days banks are closed for Thai New Year so Mon 5th is correct.
Martyn ***********
Bank Holidays have been extended till next Monday... They added extra days to take in the weekend.
Lloyd *********
Only Thur 1st & Fri 2nd are "bank holidays"
Martyn ***********
@Lloyd ********
.... Then sat and sun...?? His money arrives 5th Mon...? What's your point?
Lloyd *********
@Martyn **********
the point is today is Tuesday, why the delay till next Monday, you haven't given any reason for that except quoting erroneous bank holidays
Martyn ***********
@Lloyd ********
obviously his transfer method, takes 24 hours plus.. 'Errorneos' bank holidays?? Bank Holidays... Closed, delay, no transfers. Highly relevant I'd say.. 55
Lloyd *********
Fine, so WHAT days are the banks closed, and WHAT days are there no electronic transfers processed?
Peter *********
No all banks open just done a wise transfer completed in 5 seconds 👌
Nigel **************
Yes big banks were open today but are closed now till Monday. I can only advise on BB I dunno about others.
Graham **********
I did transfer yesterday to thailand took 5 mins
Lloyd *********
So as an experiment I decided to do 2 transfers, one to my BBL account and one to my Kasikorn account.

Today, 31st December @ 9:30am, Wise tells me the funds will reach Kasikorn in seconds, but the funds to BBL will not arrive until Monday 5th January.

So yes, transfer times do depend on which Thai bank you're sending to.
Nigel **************
Not to a BB acc I guess🤔🤔
Graham **********
@Nigel *************
it was to my wife account
Lloyd *********
That is irrelevant, what bank?
Nigel **************
@Graham *********
depends on the bank, not the account. Most transfers are instant but not to Bang Bank accs.
Pierre-Paul ********
@Nigel *************
how long does it take to transfer funds in to Bangkok bank acc? As l intend to transfer some shortly.
Nigel **************
Every time I transfer frm my Wise acc yo my Bangkok Bank account it takes 24 hours and will arrive about 2pm. Has to be bank working days. If I transfer on a Fri it will come Mon afternoon. Hope this helps.
