TLDR : Answer Summary
The question regarding whether DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) holders are being asked for 10,000 THB in cash at Thailand's immigration has elicited mixed responses. Several users report that they have not been asked for cash upon entry, especially if they demonstrate that they have sufficient funds (e.g., showing 500,000 THB in their bank account). Others confirm being asked for 20,000 THB (the actual amount required) or to show proof of funds, emphasizing that not all visitors face the same scrutiny. Discussions indicate that while it’s wise to be prepared with evidence of financial capability, experiences can vary widely based on individual interactions with immigration officials.
dtv is considered a tourist visa… and the 20k baht equivalent requirement is for literally everyone. even non immigrant visa holders. read the law. in place for 25 years already
No, I flew back from Cambodia on the 2nd of January. Just showed my DTV and passport and got my stamp for 180 days. No further questions, not needing to show bank balance or cash. What I've learned, don't listen to all of the BS you see or read on Social media just take it as a grain of salt and DYOR. I hope this helps 😉
yes it is linked but doesn't mean they won't ask to see it, I was asked on my last visit in November to show it at immigration. Copy on your phone will probably be ok but was easier to just show the printed copy.
then you must be broke, 20K baht is not a lot of cash to have on you during an emergency which you might not have access to your cards for whatever reason. what will you do if you lost your atm or credit cards? not having a back up is what you call "not smart"
Thailand Immigration CAN ask these questions (I not say, you will be asked)
1. valid and genuine passport
2. IF you got a visa issued, a print out
3. Print of the Thailand Digital Arrival Card tdac.immigration.go.th
4. the Boarding pass
5. Proof of onward travel within the period you get stamped into this country
6. Proof of accommodation
7. Proof of finance, 20.000 Thb (40.000 Thb for family) or equivalent currency in CASH.
Not every visitor is asked to show all 7 points, it all depends on the Immigration Officer, but IF you get asked you have to show. IT saves a lot of time if you are prepared.
You can show any form mate, it states that on all the official Thai government websites and information outlets. Credit card, travelers cheques, bank balance, cash etc
