I’m a bit confused, so we need to show the 500k upon arrival as well? Has this actually happened to the majority of people entering on dtv or are they isolated cases?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The necessity of showing 500,000 THB upon arrival in Thailand for the DTV visa seems to be an isolated concern, with most respondents indicating that this requirement rarely occurs during entry. While it may happen if certain circumstances arise, especially on a first entry or at smaller airports, many have successfully entered Thailand on multiple occasions without being asked to show funds. Generally, having the required funds in a bank account is crucial during the application process, but encounters at immigration upon arrival appear to be infrequent.

Anonieme deelnemer 865 500K is a visa requirement for all types of DTV, so your reply that it is nonsense, well is just nonsense itself....

Extremely rare. Your chances of winning the Thai lottery are greater.

This can of course happen if they take you into secondary inspection but if you arrive at BKK i doubt this will happen to you. I arrived las week the first time did not even print my visa and i was out 1 min later. There were just too many people there. Heard of a person going to a smaller airport in chiang mai that had to deal with this. Hope this helps πŸ™

@Guillermo ********
it happened to a guy in Chiang Mai here who had to show 15k. If you can’t show 15k at any point of time then this visa is not for you anyway

Anonymous participant 766 15k of what currency? Baht or Usd?
Anonymous ******************
Anonymous participant 766 A lot of people don't leave 500k sitting in an account doing nothing except waiting for random check (and lets not even discuss the amounts for the people with multiple dependants)

Anonieme deelnemer 162 When people don't let it in their account, they break visa rules, not a very big risk, bur also not very smart.

Anonymous participant 766 true this is what bothers me if you dont have the funds GET A SPONSOR. The thais could care less who has the money as long as it is coming from outside Thailand. If you do have the proper paperwork tha you dont have to worry about none of this stuff. This is a farely easy visa to get if you underdtand the fundamentals and its scope. It allows you to be in Thailand for long periods and its overall cost is less than 500 usd. The moment people start asking question about the fundamentals is when they complicate their stories and the rejections occurs unfortunately πŸ™

Keeping 15k idling on current account is simply not financially responsible.

Can have multiple of that amount but even so it makes sense to earn any even few % interest on it.

SuccessfullinMalaysia you can keep the money in an account where you get interest, as long as it has direct access. A lot of banks have such accounts.

SuccessfullinMalaysia then just show your broker account and it will be fine, they just don’t want broke people
Successful***********
Anonymous participant 766 Of course that's a fair point.

However, during visa processing those must be in current account.

Would they accept broker account if ask on the border? Well, not sure.
Anonymous ******************
SuccessfullinMalaysia i’m just a farang myself living here for just 3 years but in my experience I would just explain to them calmly that I can withdraw from broker and transfer to current account at any point of time. There is no reason to reject you if you are polite and show to them that money is not a problem. They just want to reject stupid farangs that are doing illegal things, which is normal and good for everyone in the country including you

SuccessfullinMalaysia i get it man but than going into the fundamentals of this visa with the financial requirement it says you should have 500k in your account. Its like when you apply for a loan the bank ask for having in your account and than digs into looking how you got it etc. The consular officer know this and when they see strange deposits they will ask themselves can this person come to our country and live without seeking or engaging in local employment .. THE ANSWER IS NO THAN YOU GET THE REJECTION AS THE OFFICIAL RESPONSE. If you dont have 500k in your account and can justify this over the course of 6 months than sorry to tell you this but you do not qualify for the DTVvisa. Maybe some people were lucky before and got it but i would not risk the non refundable fees based with these assumptions. Im very sure your parents, the company your work your uncle etc will have the 500k and can justify the financial requirement than for those cases GET AN SPONSOR is this simple. You dont have to have the money yourself but some must for the adjudication to take place. I hope this helps πŸ™
