Hey all - question:
I entered Thailand on a Non O marriage visa last year, and later, I did a one-year extension to support spouse (had a work permit at the time). The permission to stay expired last week, and so I am now under amnesty. I plan to obtain a 60-day "visit family" extension ASAP. As I am not working at now and do not have 400k, I was thinking maybe I could apply for a new Non O in-country using my half-thai kid instead of spouse/marriage. My question: is it possible to obtain a new Non O visa inside the country if the reason for applying is to take care of Thai children? Does immigration see Marriage and Thai children guardian Non O visas as the same thing? I know that I can't apply for a new Non O marriage in country, but I was thinking maybe the kid could work -- and since I would be on a 60-day visiting family extension, perhaps immigration would view this as a type of "tourist" stay.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The question asks if it is possible to obtain a new Non O visa in Thailand based on caring for a half-Thai child, given that the individual is currently under an amnesty period after their previous extension expired. Responses clarify that while obtaining a new Non O visa for a different reason is not possible, applying for an extension based on supporting a half-Thai child could be an option. However, financial requirements must be met for both extensions, and it may be advisable to utilize the current amnesty period to meet these requirements.
