Malaysia and Thailand has 7 overland border crossings, not sure which one you're referring to but ya park your car at Thai side then take a train or public transport or walk to Malaysia will be the easier way

With the new rules, you need to apply and install a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP), and for foreign vehicle you can only buy petrol RON97 in Malaysia not the subsidized RON95
