Can I, as an Australian resident living here now, who has satisfied the Work Life rule, and lived here most my life, apply for the pension and move to Thailand, immediately, without the 2 year portability rule applying to me?
I understand the 2 year rule applies only to former residents?
Hi l have a question for the Aussie expats. I have recently found out that once I receive the aged pension I still have to live in Australia ( except holidays ) for 2 years before I can then live overseas and collect the aged pension. What I would like to know is if there’s any exceptions to the rule, as in Thai Wife or such. I’m 65 have a Thai Wife and house in Chum Saeng. To have to support myself for 2years without working will probably burn up half my savings. I’m amazed that no one seems to know about this. You would think the government would be happy to see the back of me.
Hi, just a question for any Australian age pensioners, I am about to apply for a pension and then come to Thailand permanently but on the centrelink website there is a suggestion that I have to stay in Australia for 2 years before I can take my pension to Thailand, I have lived and worked in Australia for 42years, any advice please?
