Will Thai immigration hassle me when returning to Thailand on an O-A visa after a same-day trip to Malaysia?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I'm here on an O-A " retirement " visa and I need to step out of Thailand and return so as to secure my 2nd year.

If I flew down to KL and returned same day..do you think Thai immigration at Phuket Airport would give me a hard time on my return back in...or, as I am on an O-A they wouldn't care? Reason I ask is that one other time I did this while on a tourist visa and on return to Thailand, I got hauled aside and held for half an hour while they interrogated me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand on an O-A (retirement) visa and is considering a same-day trip to Kuala Lumpur (KL) to secure a second year on the visa. They are concerned about potential difficulties with Thai immigration upon return to Phuket Airport, recalling a past negative experience re-entering Thailand on a tourist visa.
