I am on a retirement Visa and left Thailand and came back in yesterday, without doing re -entry stamp before I left, and they said we can give you one month free but you must go to Jomtien immigration office and talk to them about how to get your original one-year visa back into effect. Does anybody know if this is going to be possible?.?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original retirement visa cannot be reactivated after leaving Thailand without a re-entry stamp. Instead, the individual must apply for a 90-day Non-O visa, meeting the necessary requirements at the immigration office, and then within the last 30 days of that visa, apply for a 12-month extension. The process requires starting over and fulfilling all relevant immigration requirements.

Why didn't you just do the right thing an get a reentry permit. This is what happens when people dont follow the rules, you need to pay the price for being slack!!!

Tell that to immigration, don't think it will work. I had the same situation but still got a re- entry.

Two questions.

1. Why on earth would you throw away your visa by leaving Thailand without a reentry stamp?

2. Why would you ever decline to purchase a multi reentry stamp every single time you renew your annual visa extension?

Left quickly - mother died.

@Steve *******
did you know you walked right past the counter that sells reentry permits right before you cleared passport control at the airport?

Why did you decide not to get a reentry permit at the same time (and every time) you renew your Thai visa?

At that moment it was not important. But now it is.

Where you can get the re-entry stamp? how that’s work? do you need to ask at the airport before you leaving Thailand? thank you for your answer.
Jay *******
@Timea ********
you can get a single or multiple entry when you apply for the one year extension. I got a single re-entry just in case. Can also be bought at the airport before you leave i think.

@Timea ********
you can either get it from your immigration office or at the airport before you depart. I think it's 1,000 baht for single or 3,000 baht for multiple re-entry.

1900 & 3900

@Stuart **********
it's 1000 THB for single and 3800 THB for multiple re-entry permit on Immigration, and it is 200 THB plus on top of that when you buy it at the airport

Unfortunately you now on visa exempt and you have to start the retirement process again from scratch.
John **********
You can't get your original visa or extension back. You need to go to immigration and apply for a 90 day Non-O visa by meeting the requirements of your immigration office and in the last 30 days of that visa apply for a 12 month extension of stay, again by meeting the requirements of your immigration office.

It’s not possible. You are starting over

But she also spoke go to immigration office and get retirement Visa reinstated and not lose this Visa.
Graham ******
@Steve *******
I think something was lost in translation there as the process needs to be restarted not reinstated
Bob **********
@Steve *******
you won’t get it reinstated you’ll start over in Jomtien you’ll need 21 days left on your stamp and you’ll need 800k in your Thai bank seasoned for two months before your extension

I can bring 800,000baht from Australia into Thailand bank now, but I must do Non - O before 2 months. ??? Thank you.
Greg ***********
@Steve *******
in order to be able to apply for the "change of visa type" from the visa exempt-entry to the initial 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa, you need to SHOW a minimum of 800,000 THB in your Thai bank account. No seasoning time needed at this point but you must prove the money came from abroad. Then as soon as the 800K have been sitting in your account for 2 months and before the 90 days expire, you can apply for the "1-year extension of temporary stay permit based on retirement"

Immigration spoke one month but it is 2 months. I do not know why she said - one month free.
Stuart *********
Yes. You start from square one again. You apply to transfer from visa exempt to a Non O for 2,000 baht (you’ll need at least 15 days left on your stamp. Jomtien might require 21).

When that’s winding down you apply for the yearly extension (and get a multiple entry re-entry permit at the same time to save future hassles).
