Hello I'm under a 1 year student visa and I'm planning to back France for 5 weeks after 6 months. It will be my first time out of Thailand in 6 months. Is anybody did it already, I'm wondering if I can have problems with my visa when coming back. I will of course do the re-entry permit.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to exit Thailand for 5 weeks on a student visa and seeks advice on potential issues when returning. Several commenters confirm that as long as a re-entry permit is obtained prior to leaving and the visa is valid upon return, there should be no immigration problems. It is also suggested to check with the school about missing classes, especially if it is during school holidays.

, As long as your current extension doesn't expire while you're gone AND you get a re-entry permit before you stamp out you'll be fine when you come back.

, it won't add any days to your current stamp but it will get you stamped in until then when you come back.

Good Luck

You say you have a one year ED visa :/ That visa is ONLY available from a thai consulate in another country AND it requires you to exit the country every 90 days.

Do you instead have an extension of stay? That you got from the thai immigration office for 1900baht? If you do what is you're "permission to stay until date" on the extension? That is gonna control how long you can be out of the country.

1-year visa and a re-entry permit. Not an issue with immigration.

it's a private school, I indeed get a 90 days extensions but I will be fine with the "untill date", just worry about 5 weeks maybe too long. Thanks for your answer Tod.

are you enrolled in a real university program or in a private school, and do you get extensions every 90 days or did you get a yearly extension?

Yup... I was in grad school and took 8 weeks between semesters... not a problem as long as the visa is valid when you return and you have a re-entry permit.

, the immigration officer at the border isn't gonna have anything to say about it, as long as they have a re-entry permit and their extension isn't expired.

If it during a school holiday it will be no problem, if you intend to miss 5 weeks of classed better talk with the school first.
