Hello everyone, I have a thai bank account that I opened while staying with ED visa. I want to know if it'll be closed when I apply for DTV visa. Anyone Same Condition?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The general consensus is that your Thai bank account will not be closed when you switch from an ED visa to a DTV visa. It seems that once a bank account is opened, the type of visa does not affect its status. However, prolonged inactivity might lead to different consequences.

Depends of how long it’s been inactive, if at all…..

No - it will not be closed. I had one dormant for about 4 years with a couple of thousand Baht in and they did not close it.

random semi-related question mate. Do Thai banks generally charge account keeping fees?

I have no idea lol. If they do it is so low I have not noticed. There is an ATM charge by some banks for withdrawals outside home bank province but I am not charged this for whatever reason.

Anonymous participant Good that you have an account - some on DTV seem to be having difficulty opening one without paying an agent!

yes, you're right. I am just worried because I saw a post in this group that SCB bank that will close the bank accounts with the DTV visa.

No, it won't be closed. It doesn't matter what type of visa you have once the account is open
