Please be kind to this idiot - so I may have misplaced my work permit. I am leaving to go to New Zealand tomorrow with 90 day extension of stay and multiple entry my passport. Do you think I will have a problem coming back into Thailand without the permit if I just say I didn't know I needed to bring it with me?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about re-entering Thailand after a trip to New Zealand without their work permit. Many comments from experienced expats suggest that it is uncommon to be asked for the work permit at the airport, and some recommend not taking it out of Thailand due to its legal status. Ultimately, the user found their permit and is relieved ahead of their travels.

Jason Brennan Are you asking me how I received my work permit to begin with? I am a certified teacher in an international school here. Luckily I don't teach any classes on home organization

David Broadfoot Often the former, and since I've become a full time working mom, mostly the latter!

I usually don't bring WP itself with me for private travel because I'm afraid to lose it somewhere out of Thailand. And never been asked. Though if I would tell the truth - I'm afraid. I just have photo of pages of it in case..

Actually you should not take your WP book out of Thailand as its a legal document from Thailand. Thats what we are told.
