I have a question about a reentry permit. I currently have a Work permit that is about to expire in December and I recently left Thailand to Malaysia to get a non-immigrant B visa for three months. I returned to Thailand and handed in all the documents to my lawyer to apply for the nonimmigrant B one year but also to renew my work permit. I just received a call from my lawyer saying that they’re unable to renew my work permit because when I left the country I didn’t get a reentry permit. I had no idea that I was supposed to do this as my previous visa was expiring and I went to Malaysia to get a new one and entered Thailand with the new one. I’ve only ever used a reentry permit when I was leaving and coming back to Thailand on a single entry non-immigrant B. Could somebody please explain this to me or is my lawyer even correct in this information
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about the need for a reentry permit after leaving Thailand for a new visa, which has led to complications in renewing their work permit. They have previously used a reentry permit for single-entry visas but did not know it was necessary under these circumstances. Comments suggest a lack of clarity about the situation and recommend further communication with the lawyer or the Ministry of Labor.
