Will I have issues re-entering Thailand with a DTV visa after previous entry denial?

Hi everyone! 🥰🥰 I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. I was denied entry to Thailand two weeks ago due to concerns about long-term stays.

However, I’ve just had my DTV visa (workation–freelancer) approved here in Korea. I’m planning to re-enter Thailand next week.

Given the previous denial, is there still a chance I might face issues at the border, even with the DTV visa? Thanks so much in advance! 🙏🏾

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user, who was previously denied entry to Thailand, seeks advice on re-entering the country with a newly approved DTV visa (workation for freelancers). Community comments suggest that despite past issues, having the DTV visa significantly increases likelihood of entry, though there are no guarantees as decisions ultimately depend on the immigration officer's judgment. It's recommended to come prepared with documentation of the visa and be ready for potential questions.

You should be fine 👍

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

Should be no problem. Had the same problem. Just entered today via DTV. Took 30sec and I could enter without problems. Was flagged for too many VOA usage and would be denied the entry. So don’t worry. Get dtv and you good to go.

From my own experiences if possible I would always choose a male immigrant officer 🙈

how many entries during a single year to be flagged? 🙏🏽

177 days 😅 3 entries + 2 extensions in 2024, 1 entry in 2025 (60 days, didn’t dare to extend ). They don’t like that… “get proper visa or we send you home, naa” she said on entry in 2025. Thai girlfriend bonus was the only reason they let me in the last time. First she didn’t want to let me into the country, told her I have a girlfriend, a lease contract and we live together. Then she was typing for 10 minutes something into my file, stamped me 60 days and told me that they won’t let me in again the next time. Get visa or wait 180 days. But I guess depends on the IO.

On third entry in 2024 they started questioning me on my purpose of stay. So I just pushed my luck to the limit 😂

They are now very strict with it so I believe there is no precise answer.

Many people have done exactly this. Shouldn't be any issues

There's always a chance, all you can do is be prepared to be questioned and have your answers ready

There are no guarantees as down to mood of immigration officer you encounter, but your chances of getting let in go way up with DTV

You're definitely increasing your chances with a visa... The IO can still decide whether you're fulfilling the entry conditions or not; they may ask questions in this regard.

Search through this group. I am sure there was a post of someone in your exact situation. They entered Thailand on the DTV no issue

Depends on the immigration officer decision
