Hello. Thanks for the help in advance. I’m sure a lot of silly questions like mine pop up. Searching works as well but not always.

-After my METV expires, how long do I need to wait until I can reenter Thailand with a 60 day TV? (I’m exploring other visa options as well)

-Anyone has experience doing a border run to Thakhek, Laos? (I’m gonna go rock climbing there so maybe I can get two birds stoned at once) 🙏🖖

TLDR : Answer Summary
The reentry period after your METV expires is indefinite, but frequent travelers may receive questions from immigration about their extended stays. It's crucial to choose a visa that aligns with your travel plans, as being questioned at arrival is possible. Some suggest applying for a new METV from abroad if eligible.

If your passport is on the approved list why not take a trip to Perth Australia go the Royal Thai Consulate and apply for another 6 month METV...now you will get pessimistic responses saying you will not be let into Thailand, but remember TiT there are no absolutes about anything, so if you choose try it...

the back to back METV is being eyed critically by Thai Immigration upon arrival. Not a wise choice at this time.

Have you maxed out your allowed months of your METV with available extensions???

I suggest you really look hard at your visa choices. Be very careful.

Choose one which best serves your desire to live in Thailand. Otherwise, be prepared for questioning and possible denial at arrival. Good Luck.

with planning you can stretch your METV to almost 9 months. Just how far in future are your folks visiting?

no I haven’t. Just got here a month and a half ago. But I want to make sure that I can be in Thailand when my family visits and by my calculations, my metv will be expired by then and I’ll have to figure something out.

Thank you both!

There is no limit how long you have to stay out side Thailand. But Immigration officers start asking question how people manage to be tourist for years and spend their time inside Thailand without doing any work or profession.
