Will I be charged a fee for a border bounce at Satun if I have a multi-entry tourist visa?

Good evening :)

On a multi-entry tourist visa and about to hit 60 days in the kingdom. Plan to do a border bounce down at Satun to get the next 60 days. I'm curious if I should expect an additional fee at the border for going in and out in one day. I was told by others that they were charged, but they were bouncing on a visa exempt, so I wasn't sure if it would apply to METV or not.

If there is a fee, is it unique to Satun? Would bouncing at Sadao make any difference? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The questioner is currently on a multi-entry tourist visa in Thailand and is planning to do a border bounce at Satun to extend their stay. They are seeking clarification on whether there is an additional fee at the border for this activity and how it may differ compared to exiting through Sadao. Community comments provide mixed experiences, with some stating they were charged fees, while others mention that entering Thailand typically incurs no charge for certain visa types. It appears that fees may vary depending on the border and the specific circumstances of the bounce.

Why not do the 30 days extension then leave come back for another 90 days with 60 plus 30 ?

because we have family visiting in a month and don't want to be futzing around with border runs during their short trip. Will extend at end of Jan, and then bounce again in Feb.

We did it twice and were asked to pay 1.3k per adult and 4K in total for 2+2

you guys did a Satun run, right? I wonder if driving a little farther to Sadao would have the same results....

With or without a visa?

we are visa exempt

But we anyway know that some border points demands one or two night out of Thailand before you can re-enter on a new visa exemption. We also know people are offered to bounce instantly by paying a fee. (Up to 10K baht).

There’s no official regulation regarding this and it’s obvious that they just make up their own rules.

Specifically regarding Satun I don’t know.

in this case, there is a current multi-entry visa obtained already, so my question is if anyone knows is Satun is asking for a bounce fee from visa holders as well.

Sorry I can’t tell for sure, but if they charge fees for tourist bouncing on visa exemption as
@Marta ****
tells, I’m afraid the same could be the case for bouncing on a METV.

There's no fee to enter thailand visa exempt ( 60 days for UK and a lot of countries ).

officially, this is true. But that doesn't mean it's not what happens at Satun. Mine was 1200 for visa exempt border bounce fee at Satun back in the spring when I was entering without visa.

My question is now for if this convenience fee is still happening there, but more specifically if they are asking it of people bouncing WITH visa (not exempt).

who did you pay to enter thailand? And what for?

There shouldn't be any fee to enter Thailand. I don't know if there's a fee to leave Malaysia.

no fee for Malaysia, but Satun was collecting bounce fees for those wanting to re-enter on visa exempt... I'm hoping to hear from someone about if they are also asking this fee for those that gold METV too.

I'll hazard a guess that if it's a bounce fee, ie a bribe then it will apply to everyone.
