Looking for help. I studied in Thailand last year for 6 months on an ED Visa. The school, last time told me that it would be advisable for me to Cancel it before I left, and I did.

I Re-Entered Thailand on an ED visa again, however due to a Family Emergency I left Thailand in a hurry to return back to the USA after only 6 weeks. This time, I did not Cancel my visa. The lady at the Border Control area let me know that my visa was still good till June 28th and that I didn’t need to leave yet. I let her know that I had a family emergency and had to return home early. Nothing more was said and she waved me through.

It wasn’t until I got to the LA airport that I realized that I forgot to go to the Immigration Office and cancel it. I have read stories online about having problems after not canceling a visa and to be honest I’m a bit confused about it all.

Next time I come to Thailand I was planning on using a NON-O 90 day Visa to stay with my Thai wife. The question is, am I going to have problems getting this Visa now simply because I forgot to cancel my ED Visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on whether not canceling an ED Visa in Thailand before exiting will negatively affect their future application for a NON-O Visa, especially since they had to leave unexpectedly due to a family emergency. Community responses indicate that since the user left on a single-entry ED visa, the visa is automatically canceled upon departure, suggesting that they should be fine for future visa applications.

You have to contact your school to cancel the visa before applying a Thai-Wife visa. You may enter Thailand as a free visa for 60 days and start the process right away at the immigration. But Thai wife visa if no kid (together) yet, make sure your marriage certificate has been valid for at least 2 months and 400k ready in account at least 60 days as well. Before getting a Thai wife visa you can get a visiting spouse visa first.

I'm not gonna re-type what I put on your post in the other group

As Ellie correctly stated (and as I did in my other answer too) you were on a 90 day single entry ED visa entry stamp and when you left it cancelled

You're fine

Buy a new visa online from the consulate before you come here, print the PDF, show it when you enter the country and you'll get stamped in on it

I stayed in Thailand for 1 year on an ED visa and left without cancelling it. I stayed in my home country for 2 months and got dtv visa and came back to bkk. No issue arose when I went through the immigration at the airport(29th March, this year).

the problems that could come would not be at the airport. It would be next time you need to use your local immigration office for whatever reason. They will see that you have an extension that you didn't cancel properly, and potentially see you as being on overstay since, bringing up a fine of up to 20K, plus the hassle of actually getting the extension canceled correctly.

If you were on the Non-ED from the embassy in another country for 6 weeks, that means you were still on the first 90 days from an initial visa. If this is true, you are fine, as the initial entry stamp cannot be cancelled.

You need to cancel your stamp only when you have already applied for an extension at the local immigration office inside Thailand.
