I’ll be retiring to Bangkok in July. I was planning on bring a years supply of my all my cardiac medications. Will this be an issue with customs?

I’ll have my medical chart with me as well.

Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
Answer summary
The original question raised concerns about bringing a year's supply of cardiac medications to Thailand and whether it would cause issues at customs. Responses indicated that while theoretically, drugs exceeding a 30-day supply may need approval, practical experiences revealed that customs rarely checks personal medication. Many users have successfully brought in supplies from 3 to 12 months without issue, highlighting that prescription medications should be in their original packaging and accompanied by medical documentation. However, those with restricted medications might need to check regulations and obtain necessary permits.

Mine wasn't an issue 15+ years ago...

When I did run out I went to the local public Hospital and the Dr prescribed an identical medication for me except I had to get it in 3 Tablets rather than one. It actually cost only slightly more than I was paying under the PBS in Australia...

In theory some drugs need approval for quantities of over 30 days worth. However, I've never seen anyone report they have been stopped and checked. From a practical point of view they are not looking people bringing drugs in for thier own use.

I always take 12 months supply in my check in bag.

If you've been traveling regularly to Thailnd how many times have the customs searched your bag or even stopped you?

I bought a 6 month supply in my suitcase, wasn’t any issue. I ran short of one script so went to the local hospital, got a check over from the Dr and they prescribed a replacement. Cost 200 baht total.

I have a heart condition and drugs like Ramipril are not restricted, although they say it’s a 30 day supply. I take my prescriptions with me and they are in the original boxes. However, I also take codeine which is restricted, so I go on the FDA website and apply for a permit. If filled out correctly the you will be fine and the permit granted. I go go for 3 months at a time and not had any problems. Check out the FDA website and it will tell you what drugs are restricted. Hope this helps

I don’t think so, I’m a disabled veteran, and my carry on and checked bag was loaded with prescriptions. No one questioned me about it.
