Here’s a question about July 1st from the other perspective:
Is anyone here a French national? Si oui, what is your understanding of the lift of the international travel ban to France from non-EU countries as of July 1st?
Do you believe an American who has been in Thailand since February will be able to fly with me to France on July 1st?
For me, logically, the answer is yes, since if it was announced that international travel will be open on July 1st from non-EU countries which are not in a state of epidemic, it shouldn’t matter the person’s nationality. Neither should it matter whether anyone needs to ”give enough time for Thai airport authorities to understand and apply our rules”. (eye roll..)
However, the Visa service of the French Embassy of Thailand is advising me not to travel before mid-July for this reason. What date in mid-July? who knows!.. I can’t keep going on changing travel dates, hotels, trains, etc. and plans for an arrival.. When I asked Visa Services about whether they were suggesting that my American friend would not be able to board the flight to France on July 1st, they replied Yes, that not only Thai authorities but the flight company agents would not allow American friend to take a flight on July 1st.
What is your take on what will really happen at the airport for us on July 1st? I feel that I need to make provisions for having to come back to the hotel upon being denied boarding.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired whether an American friend could accompany them to France on July 1st, following the announcement of lifted travel bans for non-EU countries. Although the logical response seemed positive given the travel ban's end, the French Embassy in Thailand recommended delaying travel until mid-July due to uncertainties regarding flight restrictions. Various commenters suggested reaching out to the airline for clarity and highlighted the dynamic situation of international travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic, noting potential obstacles such as airline and airport regulations that may affect boarding.
