I found much cheaper tickets for early January instead, which I can buy now. Since the embassy has now asked me to provide flight tickets and accommodation as supplementary documents:

E-ticket(s) covering all flights from the UK/Ireland/UK territories to Thailand (refundable tickets recommended at least 4 weeks in advance).

A hotel booking or accommodation confirmation in Thailand showing your name as the guest, duration of stay, dated check-in and check-out, and full address and contact details of the accommodation.

Will it be a problem if the actual ticket date is significantly later (in January) compared to what I originally put down on the application in October? Do I need to change anything or notify the consulate? I would really appreciate any insights from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation. Thank you in advance!

I applied in June and gave them an October date of intended travel, no problems at all...

Only thing is that you may find yourself at the very bottom of their priority list...

Yes, it will be a problem because you should not apply earlier than 3 months before arrival. That is also stated on the e-visa website

No offence but if you can't financially plan a flight then how are you going to financially plan 5 years living overseas with a fluctuating currency rate which may not fall in your favour. Wait until you know you're financially stable before applying otherwise you may be wasting your time and money.

When you now show you not plan to travel within 3 months, they might just cancel your application.

So better buy refundable ticket or ticket yoiu can change for free.

Book a refundable ticket then cancel it once you have the visa.

Same with accomodation, I only had 3 days refundable booked. I then entered about 2.5 months after it was accepted

I don't understand why people insist on buying nonrefundable tickets instead of fully refundable tickets for a visa application when it's uncertain whether the application will be approved.

I believe you can only apply for the visa within 90 days of your travel date
