TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV visa but received a multiple tourist visa instead, without given reasons. Community members discussed potential reasons for this outcome, indicating that sometimes the embassy might consider that the applicant did not meet the requirements for a DTV, leading to an alternate visa being issued. They suggest that reaching out to the embassy might be possible for clarification.

It happens, rarely, when the embassy considers the METV is a more appropriate visa for the Soft Power you applied with. What length of course or treatment did you apply with?

Try to read your question again, adjust it, and Maybe then you get an answer

This has happened a few times. While not what you want it’s better than a rejection.
John *******
What type of DTV did you apply for? Soft power? If so, how long was the class for?

1month muaythai course. But my friend registered exactly same course. She got approval from HCMC

It's not your friend's application, it's your application. And you don't need any visa at all for a 1 month course. You are lucky they even gave you METV.

why on earth would you think they would give you a 5 year visa for a one month course. Your lucky they didn't just give you a standard tourist visa. I guess your friend must have applied when the DTV first came out, things have tightened up

through the same embassy as your friend? When did your friend apply? Most embassies have been requiring 6+ months of training and if less giving out tourist visas.

6 months plus course are what is really needed, You can get 8months from your 6 mth METV.. Apply again later.

They may give you another type of visa if they judge that the requirements for a 5-year DTV are not fulfilled, which is better than being rejected.

Chances are they deemed that a sufficient visa to satisfy the requirements you provided when you applied. Nothing you can do about it in my view

Ideally you need a minimum of a 6 month course to get a 5 year DTV.
