Received approval for my DTV today from Hanoi, Vietnam. For anyone wondering, I submitted on the 20th of January under soft power using the Muay Thai gym called Tiger Eye (highly recommend).

I submitted a few months of compiled bank statements, proof of my passport stamp into Vietnam and all the documents supplied by the gym.

Vietnam New Year celebrations start from tomorrow onwards, so I was praying I’d get the approval beforehand. I hope everyone else also waiting like me gets approved today also 🙏🏼

Very grateful for this group existing, made me feel confident applying myself and not using an agent. Now it’s time to celebrate with 1 million bia hoi and as many banh mi as I can stomach before coming back to the place I can now call home - Thailand 😁

My wife is in Hanoi waiting for her approval (Spouse DTV). Does anyone know if the embassy is completely shutting down for Tet or processing will continue (even if a little slower)??

How did you get around the employment issue?

Did you put unemployed and no annual income?

When they look at your banking statements and if money has gone in (one time, a lump sum), but none the rest do you think that’s ok? Or what to say?

Would you mind making a checklist of all the documents you needed to apply? Haha I’m worried I’ll miss something and have to organize it asap to leave

Also any recommendations for where to stay in Hanoi? Thanks so much

hey so I was just honest and put what described the closest to what I do and an approximate annual income. Soft powers still allows you to work online as long as you’re not working for a Thai entity.

I think a lump sum in a bank would be fine, they just want to know that you have enough savings to support yourself.

In my post I describe every document I submitted, that was literally it just bank statements, passport stamp in Vietnam, all documents supplied by my gym which I compiled into 1 pdf.

I’d say stay somewhere in either old quarter if you want to explore easily by foot, if you’re planning to just bunker up then Ba Dinh

Congrats! Did you state your occupation as "Unempoyed" with "0" as Annual income?

no I stated I was freelance working (as it was closest to what I do) and an approximate income. DTV under soft powers still allows you to work online however you’re not permitted to work for a Thai entity as far as I’m aware

@Ben *******
thanks! Were you asked to provide any papers relating to your freelance occupation?

Enjoy the Banh Mi and bia Hoi, Thailand doesn't have anything like it. Other than at Paul, Tops and some foreign owned bakeries and major hotels, the bread here is dreadful and the beer is even worse. Thankfully Beer Lao is widely available in Thailand and imported beer from other countries is also sold in major supermarkets.

Do you have to have the full 14k sitting in your account or do u need to show them bank statements that u have made 14k with your job I’m confused?

@Suave ****
Yes you need to demonstrate that you have at least 500,000 baht (or equivalent in your currency) in your bank account in your most recent statement

is this possible someone sponsor me? I mean, prove that have the money and would help if I need it. I work from home and my income is around 2k usd.

@Ben *******
I’ve read on google that u need to show proof that u make 500,000 baht with paystubs etc
Paul *******
@Suave ****
No, you don't. You just need the money in your account.

I read from this Facebook group that if u use the soft power activity option, u only need to show proof of financial stability (savings) , No need for payslips/proof of work at all....

Unless... If the officer happens to be in a bad mood / dun like our face 😂

@Fąndn ******
this is correct, under soft power there is no need to show payslips. I just uploaded the last 3 months of bank statements as proof 👍
Suave *****
@Fąndn ******
so when I apply I need to show bank statements or have the actual on money sitting in the account?
Fąndn *******
@Suave ****
personalIy I wouldn't risk it, would just leave it in the account Until everything is finalised and approved... But you may feel brave and try otherwise and let us know the results ! 😁
Suave *****
@Fąndn ******
is this visa worth it considering not everyone just has 14k sitting in there bank account

@Ben *******

did you use an agent to get all the paperwork sorted or just do it yourself? 🙏

@Molly *******
Nope didn’t use an agent I just filled it out myself, it wasn’t a difficult application tbh and if I had a question I’d use the search bar in this group to look for where someone has made a post/ comment about it
