Why does Bangkok Bank take longer to issue 12-month statements for visa extensions compared to last year?
Hi all just been by Bangkok Bank in Chiang Mai that it'll take a week to get 12 months statements and bank account confirmation letter that's required for the visa, extension. Last year received the same day....has anyone else experienced this or could it just be the branch I went into?

The Kasikorn branch I went to enquire about transferring 800,000 from Bangkok bank wanted to charge 2% for the transfer

Ran into the exact same shit with them last Oct. Since you can get a 6 month statement with zero wait time, at half the price of a 12 month statement, I got one 6 month statement in April and intend to get another one before I have to renew this October. Hopefully immigration will view two consecutive 6 month statements the same as one 12 month statement, but in case they don’t, intend to run my test more than a week before I need to renew.

Ive had nothing but good experiences. Only in that branch, the girl on counter 4 helps alot. Is it impossible to get the letter for immigration? I'll leave the money in all year round anyway that isn't a problem.

Highly doubt you got a one year statement last year, from Bangkok Bank in Chiang Mai, in one day. Normally takes up to 7 days, sometimes 5 or 6 days, but never same day for one year statement. A two or three month statement can be produced by local branches. Suspect last year you went for your first annual extension of a Non O after having it for ninety days and needed less than a one year statement.

Donald Crawford I use the 65k / month but not from US (northern neighbour) and got the account verification letter with no problem. When bank agent started to ask questions, I simply showed him a copy of the immigration paper and pointed to the top option, ie 65k / month. At that point he shut up and gave me the letter.

That's the way it works. they request the statements from the head office and by the time the request is completed it's about a week before you get the statements

No, it’s normal. It also takes a week at my Bangkok Bank branch in Bangkok. I was surprised the first time I renewed, but thankfully did it early enough that it wasn’t a problem.

Here's what worked for me in CM.
Print 12 months statement via app.
Go to Central branch and ask for additional 1 month statement to be sent via email, costs 100 baht and takes 24 hrs.
Pay them another 200 and they gave me the letter for immigration in 15 minutes.

Before you do that open one at the Kasikorn Bank and use them in the future.

OPTom Pola I've opened one already but unsure about transferring for this application for extension as the money will then have been in 2 different accounts and I am unsure if this is an issue?

Gao Green The way you do this is after you get your extension you keep the 800K in the bank for 3 months. Then you transfer 400k to your new account. Let it sit in that new account for a couple of days and then transfer the remaining 400k over. For your next extension you will get a statement from Bangkok Bank showing the 800K in your account for 3 months after the extension and you get another statement from your new bank showing the

Wannikea Wanblee good advice, but they need to get through this extension first. Too late to safely complete the transfer. I would also run the plan past the local immigration office of what you plan to do. I also hit the 1 year issue with Bangkok Bank. I have opened a K Bank account, but have yet to do the transfer. My extension was about 6 weeks ago.

Gao Green don't close any account. In Bangkok at the main branch it takes 4-5 days for 12 months. The last 3 months can be done immediately, but not 12, and I've been using this monthly deposit method for the last 11 years, and it's always been the same delay, and that is at the main branch in Bangkok. It is nothing new.

It's normal for Bangkok Bank to take 5 working days so I'm guessing last year you didn't need 12 months of statements. You can request 12 months of statements in the app as well but they might not go back far enough for you as what they actually send is the current month plus the previous 11 months.
On the form you complete to request the statements there's an option to have the statements emailed to you and they normally arrive the following lunchtime if time is tight for you

they may not accept online statement. They look similar but not quite. Also no stamp from bank.

most will want this done. As you have to get 6 month statement and letter, should not be a problem.People need to plan this out when using statements from Bangkok Bank. I ask for 12 month statement well before renewal time. Then go into the bank the day before going to Hua Hin IO for the 6 month statement, to cover any missing weeks,and letter. Job done with no panic.
