What should I do to transfer my Bangkok Bank app to a new phone without risking account cancellation?

I have Bangkok bank on my old phone and now it's pretty much dead. I got my bank while having an Education visa 3 years ago. Now I have DTV. I want to go to the branch to move it to the new device, but I am afraid that they are going to cancel it. What is your experience about it? Have you heard of something similar?

Just did mine the other day. Samsung to Samsung. App asked pp number + facial recognition and that was it. Didn't have to go in anymore

If your account is regularly used for everyday needs, with deposits coming in, and spending going out regularly, then you've got a better chance of no problems, rather than just paying a few bills a month, with no real activity with the account.

Most likely they will close your account if you go there avoid that as long as you can. And it’s not because a person at a counter does not want to help or is rude. They are just obliged by the policy.

I've always moved my Bangkok Bank app to new phones myself, but it requires you to know your customer number (not your account number) and keep the same sim number

This exact situation happened to me with Bangkok bank...they didn't cancel my account. I had to go to the telephone company and they will print you out a piece of paper saying that you are the owner of said #....You take this paper back to the bank(with your bank documents) and they will make sure the App is operating.

I set up facial recognition on my app while on a DTV. I went to a mall branch to do it, and they didn't ask for a visa. Now I can move the app to a new phone without going to a branch. My phone died a few days ago, which is how I know this. I first set the app up on my spare phone and then set it up on my replacement phone.

I. Changed from dead iPhone to temporary android abd back to repaired iPhone with only my thai sim, passport number abd i believe birthdate. Getting s new stm card is much harder. I’m lucky they only warned me but let me keep the account

Download the app on your new phone. Go to an ATM and order a password. Log in and use your new phone.

This is the right answer! I’ve changed phones a couple of times and never had to go inside the bank. The ATM will give you the code you need to access the app on a new phone.DoubtfulIn***********
If they haven’t shut you down and still have the same Thai phone number you should be fine. I was there today and confirmed with them that if you change phones and the number is the same, it can be moved with OTP, as long as the info on file with the bank is up to date.
All that being said, BKK bank has shut my app access down 3 times in the past 3 years, and now they are phasing out the web based, so I opened a Kbank account and will keep bkk for the account age as a backup.

DoubtfulIndigoMontoya KBank is phasing out web based. I lost my website access and had to install the App on my phone while at a K-Bank branch. I can continue to use the website but need to authenticate with the App first. Stupid eh.

LongTimeLivingInThailand I was at least grandfathered in with the BKK bank web access, and they even renewed it today for me (original issue today was user error :x) KBank told me sorry no web access for you.

no worries I only looked into it because we were going to upgrade our phone hardware here just to avoid the problems, but it works out to be significantly more expensive and although the iPhones here have a physical sim and eSIM, downside is they lack a few key bands for rural service in the USA.Leong ****

YMMV. I know what they told me and what I’ve done in the past. I have Bangkok bank on a phone that does not have a Thai #. The reason I ran into a problem is that my Thai # was shared with a partner and even though the paperwork was approved, the computer eventually flagged it and removed the phone #.

In the same boat in the next couple days! And wondering if it is more dangerous for cancellation to ask a Pattaya branch to log me in or go to the original branch it was opened. It's so disgusting the way they do logins tied to a particular phone AND install instance (whenever you wipe your entire phone and start fresh, which i do regularly, you cannot login again, and have to travel all the way to Thailand to get help)
