Why Did I Receive a 90-Day Visa Instead of a 30-Day One on My Visa Run?

FYI - I just retuned this morning from a Chongmek visa run intending to get a 30 day tourist visa - changing schools and getting a new NonB, but need the extra 30 days to finalize paperwork - on an American passport.

They gave me 90 days automatically - no questions asked. Iโ€™m not sure if it was intentional or a mistake?

Certainly helpful...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shared their experience returning from a Chongmek visa run, where they intended to obtain a 30-day tourist visa but were mistakenly granted a 90-day entry on an American passport. They expressed uncertainty if this was intentional or a mistake, noting it was beneficial. However, commenters advised them that receiving a 90-day stamp was likely an error and recommended correcting it at immigration to avoid potential overstay issues.

Yep, you were stamped in wrong for sure and you won't be able to stay the 90 days without getting an overstay.

Go to the immigration office and get the stamp corrected, it's free.

1. There is no "30 day visa", there is a 30 day exampt.

2. You should NOT have gotten the 90 days on entry. Go to immigration today and get the stamp fixed.

3. If you don't get the stamp fixed, and you leave on the 90th day, you will be 60 days overstay.

Got it. Thanks ๐Ÿ™

Wrong use of terms - just meant usual 30 days Americans receive when entering Thailand on an American passport.
