Can I switch from a DTV to a Business Visa in Thailand?

Can you switch from a DTV to a Business Visa? My partner and I are planning to open a bar, but want to do a few months of intensive Thai language classes while we scope out locations and business partners before we actually need the business and spouse visa. Considering whether a tourist visa (exemption - Australian) or soft power DTV is wiser? All advice welcome.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about switching from a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) to a Business Visa while considering taking Thai language classes. They are contemplating whether to enter Thailand on a tourist visa or a soft power DTV while planning to open a bar. Comments clarify that switching visas is possible but requires an application process, and obtaining a METV could be beneficial for a longer stay in Thailand before switching to a business visa.

For what a business visa? You can run a business without a company or business visa. You just need a trustworthy Thai person what you need anyway if you do a company

Get a METV. That can get you almost 9 months in country with good timing. Easy to switch to a B for business if you set up Ltd company etc EDIT: Just noticed you mentioned language classe3s - an Ed would do too.

You can switch from a DTV to another visa type inside Thailand at an immigration office, but I don't think its possible to do so outside Thailand

Not switching. You must cancel whatever visa you have currently...then apply for the visa you want.
