TLDR : Answer Summary
The best place to transfer your visa stamp to a new passport in Thailand is at Chaeng Wattana Immigration. However, it's important to note that if you entered Thailand under the visa-exemption scheme, you may not have a visa to transfer. For those with a long-term visa, you'll need your new passport, an embassy letter, and a police report for the extension process, which is handled at IT Laksi Square.

Update - with new passport, embassy letter, and police report, the 30-day extension was successful. Thanks for the (good) advice here. Important point, extensions are NOT done at CW. Extensions are done at IT LAKSI SQUARE

Hi,

1. You can't change passport without long-term visa here in Kingdom (mostly embassy put long-term visa as requirment for passport renewal)

2. You don't have visa (you entered Kingdom with visa-exemption scheme)

actually you can. The first stamp put in your passport is a reference number of your full history in the computer database. It doesn't matter what visa, or visa exempt stamp you are on.

Are you reply me refer to point no. 1 or 2 ?

If your respond about change/renewal passport in Kingdom. Maybe you're right.

First of all we don't know his nationality. That's why i've said MOSTLY because most of south asian country embassy here in Kingdom can't accept renewal/change passport without long-term visa and he said he entered without visa.

Also there's lack of information what reason he change to new passport. damaged? lost? expired?

let's said it's lost. So most of embassy will issue emergency/temporary passport that's mean the owner doesn't need to transfer any stamp on it

I lost my old passport that contained a 60-day visa exempt stamp. New Canadian passport has arrived. I'm wondering if I need to visit immigration to inform them and receive an extension, or am I able to simply fly out and back in?

@Evan ******
May i ask it's temporary/emergency passport or real passport that you obtained?

If real passport, bring your new passport + letter from embassy and go to nearest immigration (should be chaengwattana for tourist visa, visa-exempt i'm not sure) to re-stamp your passport. They have your record entry date on their computer

But i suggest you to talk with Canadian embassy staff for more correct information

it's a brand new passport. You think I need to get a new stamp at immigration? Can't I just leave the country instead without doing anything? My embassy didn't have a direct answer
Kool *******
You go to chaeng Wattana immigration for that.

I'm also debating to just leave out and in Thailand. Do you think I'd have any issues without my old lost passport since all the stamps are in there?

@Evan ******
you never mentioned you lost your old passport. Do you have a copy of the police report you filed, and a letter that might have came with your new passport, and, is this a brand new passport, or an emergency travel passport?

@Kool ******

how about just flying out and returning on a 60-day exemption?

I personally do not know what immigration's reaction will be when you don't have your old passport in your case. All comments made in that respect were assuming you still had your old passport. If it was an emergency travel passport then yes, but in your case I have no idea how immigration will react at the airport.

you don't need to transfer anything unless you're getting an extension. Otherwise just show both passports on your way out.
