Hi Tod and admins- (the fountains of knowledge ๐) me again- How does one obtain a medical visa if here on a current 45 day visa exempt. Son has to go for surgery as he has torn his ACL. No idea where to start. Hope u can advise and thanks in advance.
TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a medical visa in Thailand when currently on a 45-day visa exempt, you can't actually get a specific 'medical visa'. Instead, look into obtaining an extension of stay on medical grounds. For this, you will need documentation from the hospital where the surgery is scheduled, showing that the treatment (in this case, ACL surgery) is necessary. Extensions may be granted for 30 to 90 days, depending on the immigration office's discretion and the physician's recommendations. The process is generally facilitated by private international hospitals that have staff to assist with the extension process.
