TLDR : Answer Summary
The timeline for traveling to Phuket and Thailand is unclear due to ongoing government discussions and COVID-19 restrictions. Many believe travel may reopen around September or October, but this is speculative. Tourists may have to follow restrictions and could be limited to certain areas initially. Visa applications should not be submitted until travel is permissible, and it's best to seek updates from official government sources rather than speculation in forums.

It is currently not possible to say when foreign people will be allowed into the Kingdom. There is much speculation, however the best suggestion is to pay attention to government sites and not newspapers and gossip. At the moment the government is still trying to return Thai citizens part of the problem is the number of quarantine places available. There is no confirmation how they will open the gates, it could be on a case by case basis especially those with work permits, it could depend on where you come from as they may have travel bubble between like minded countries even this will take time to happen. I am personally stuck in Australia hoping to get to Thailand however Australia is not allowing its citizens to leave the country before September for example.There is no point in making any visa application until travel is permitted. All that we can do is watch and wait.

From UK but just finished a contract in the US. We already have a property property there. If all people can do is send sarcastic comments don’t bother. It was a serious question asked to people closer than I am in the hope someone had some real information.

The best and most accurate information in my opinion comes from the various embassy Facebook pages. The Ambassadors are talking direct to the Thai Government and then post what they are told.

Everything else that you read on here is speculation, wild guesses or outright lies.

Hope you manage to get back soon.

Nobody knows until the government announces it. Pointless to ask for guesses.

Which country are you from? If it's Australia or New Zealand I reckon October. If it's US or UK, I'd be looking at an alternative! 🤣🤣🤣
Marshall **********
Yes. I agree. I hope by September and October all countries will have a good handle on the COVID-19 Virus. I miss my time in Thailand.
Marshall **********
Bobby. You think Thailand will not let Americans in there country by October or November?
Bobby ********
@Marshall *********
. I have no idea. All I know is how paranoid the Thai government is about the Covid virus, and as both the US and UK have handled the outbreak so badly and had such a massive death toll, I think it's unlikely citizens of either country would be allowed admittance any time soon

The government is actively talking about this, but it could be months. They're saying tourists will eventually be allowed in, but restricted to certain areas. If you can get a retirement visa in your home country before coming, that will help your cause. I wouldn't expect anything before September/October, though.
