I’m in Thailand on a visa exempt 45-day. How many weeks before visa expiration is it recommended to go to immigration office?

Can I now opt for 60 day instead of 30 day extension since the covid extensions was extended recently?

Answer summary

The best practice is to visit the immigration office about seven days before your visa exemption expires. Currently, you can apply for a 60-day extension as a COVID-19 measure only after first obtaining a 30-day extension. However, availability may vary by location, so it's essential to check with the local immigration office for specific procedures.

At the Samui immagration, you have to first get the 30day extention and if the situation still allows for 60day covid extension. You can do so 7 days before the 30days is up.

Thank you. I’ll be going to the Samui immigration. It’s recommended to go 7 days before expiration? Is it okay to go 14 days before expiration?

Depending on where you are will depend if you can do a covid extension or have to do a normal 30 day extension.

Most immigration offices are saying you do the 30 day extension before you can get the 60 day Covid extension.
