Currently in Chiang Mai on a single entry non-immigrant b visa. I’m going to the US on August 1 and coming back August 15. I know i need to go to immigration and get a re-entry exemption but my question is when should i do this? Is there a time frame or window, like must be used within 30 days, kind of thing? I start work full time this coming Monday and have today free to go to immigration but my trip is still 5 weeks away, won’t be back to Thailand for 7 weeks, wondering if that matters 😑 thanks guys!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the timing for obtaining a re-entry permit while holding a single entry non-immigrant B visa in Thailand, as they plan to travel to the US and return later. Community responses clarified that a re-entry permit can be obtained at any time before departure, remains valid until the end of the current visa stamp period, and does not need to be acquired close to the travel date.

You can get the re-entry permit at any time at Immigration Office. The re-entry permit is valid till your last day of admitted to stay and on return into Thailand you get the same last day of admitted to stay stamped in your passport as you have now.

a re-entry permit is good for the duration of your stamp you have now, and you can get it when ever you want.
