I'm in Chiang Mai. My 60 days Visa-Free will expire on January 26. Can I go on January 6 to process my extension or do I need to wait for the last week on Monday January 20? Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for an extension of your Visa-Free stay in Chiang Mai when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. Therefore, going on January 6 to process your extension is acceptable. It is recommended to avoid visiting immigration offices on Mondays or Fridays due to higher traffic; Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are better choices. Remember to bring a copy of the TM30 to show your registration.

In Chiang Mai you can go apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp so no problem at all going the 6th.
Although I personally wouldn't go to an immigration office on a Monday or Friday ๐ Tues/Wed/Thurz are not as busy generally
The 30 day extension will be added to the current expiration date you have. You can go to Central Festival Mall or the main office out by the airport for the 30 day extension up there.
You WILL need to have a copy of the TM30 showing you're registered as staying where you stay
