Hi,

I got to Thailand and got 60 days (US passport) which expires on Feb 1.

Wondering how long it takes to get 30 more days?

Do you still apply at immigration and pay 2k baht?

I'm leaving Chiang Mai this weekend possibly for BKK or Pattaya. Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US passport holder in Thailand with a 60-day visa expiring on February 1 can extend their stay by applying for a 30-day extension at the local immigration office. The process typically takes about 30 minutes once the required documents are submitted, and the fee for the extension is 1,900 baht. It's also recommended to visit a convenient location like the Central Festival Mall in Chiang Mai for faster service, particularly for those planning to move to Bangkok or Pattaya.

Go to the Central Festival Mall location in Chiang Mai tomorrow and get the extension, that is a fast "satellite office" of Immigrations up there

Do it in CM tomorrow

Yes just go to the local immigration. Pay 1,900 bhat.

Just need your tm30 and passport.

You can also reset the 60 days by doing a cheeky border bounce.

3500 Bhat - 4500 Bhat is the price range. Hope this helps.

Q. Wondering how long it takes to get 30 more days?

-> Depends on the office and the day you go. It's supposed to be an on-spot issuance. Once you submit the documents, it will take 30 minutes or so.

Q. Do you still apply at immigration and pay 2k baht?

-> Yes, you must go to the local immigration office that serves the address on your latest TM.30. You will go to the IT Square Laksi Plaza office if in Bangkok, unless you bought an actual tourist visa before you flew into Thailand from the Thai embassy.

The extension fee is 1,900 baht.
