What was your experience obtaining a DTV visa in Hanoi, and what advice do you have for the process?

DTV approved in Hanoi. Made an appointment online, attended Monday and picked up the visa today. They said 3 workings days but mine was done in 2.

I provided 6 months bank statements with the 500k Thai baht minimum, I only had it in one account for a 5 month period but gave them bank statements for the missing month showing the source of these funds. They generally want the funds to be liquid and withdrawable.

I stated that I have 3 sources of income:

1. Engineering technician (provided portfolio and recent signed letter from a client stating I have agreement to carry out work for him) I am not currently working in this role but expressed to them my intention is to get myself setup when I find accommodation.

2. Trading reports (provided transactions in this tax UK year and withdrawals to my bank accounts and shown on bank statements to prove income in this period)

3. Investment property income (provided invoice for payments to myself from tenant and management fees)

I summarised everything in a cover letter which tied all my evidence together and I think would go along way in any application. I provided in total 107 pages of evidence so I imagine they would have struggled to make sense of everything without the cover letter.

Also gave last years tax return, proof of location in Vietnam (hotel reservation is fine). They didn’t require travel or accommodation for Thailand to be booked.

Found the process to be easy, staff were friendly and she even helped me print out some documents I managed to forget!

Fee was 340 usd only (I asked for fresh notes at the exchange). They made sense of everything at the desk before accepting the application and taking my money.

DTV was given to me as a sticker inside my passport

Any questions hit me up

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully obtained a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Hanoi, completing the process in just two days instead of the expected three. They provided evidence of financial stability with six months of bank statements showing a minimum of 500,000 Thai Baht across various accounts, plus a cover letter summarizing their multiple income sources. The user noted the importance of clear documentation, having submitted 107 pages of evidence, along with last year's tax return and proof of accommodation in Vietnam. They found the staff friendly and the fee was 340 USD, paid in fresh notes. They also addressed community questions regarding requirements for appointments, including details on clothing and currency for payment.

If you think your account numbers, D.O.B., etc. are "useless," welcome to 2024!

@Chris *****
and what can you do with this info? I’m interested to know how a master hacker operates

With your bank account number, thieves can commit ACH fraud to withdraw your money, create fraudulent checks, make unauthorized purchases, etc. Pretty easy to get routing number if you know the account number. I have had a bank account hacked, hence my caution. I don't mean to be snarky.

I asked and paid extra for fresh notes, only because I saw someone on here say that they preferred it. They don’t specify themselves that the notes need to be brand new so you might be alright, worst case you’d have to go to an exchange and pay extra to swap them

okay cool. appreciate the help

yeah, you have to go to gold shops to get money in Vietnam for some reason

Did you ask them to give you fresh notes or something?

I got some at the airport in Chiang mai before leaving. but now I look at them they don't look "perfect". so I'm worried they won't get accepted
George ******
nice. i've got my appointment there on monday. two questions...

how many passport photos did they want?

And, how strict were they with the rules about clothing? do you think I'll be able to get away with wearing shorts?
Vu ************
@George *****
You can wear comfortable clothes, but not too short.
George ******
@Vu ***********
okay, thank you. my shorts go past the knee. so hopefully that's ok

@George *****
No problem, that's great.☺️

@George *****
Despite you are not asking me in that matter, my suggestion is to wear formal dress for visa interview.

yeah, i just don't own a pair of trousers. and it's a nightmare trying to find any in my size. Especially in vietnam
