Hey all. Has anyone tried getting the new DTV visa in Hanoi? Just wondering if the process is straightforward or if they make it difficult there? Thanks šŸ™

You should join the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) group. Someone on there applied and was approved from Hanoi. Hope that helps!

I submitted my application in Hanoi last Thursday (it hasnā€™t been approved yet, but I got past the submission and payment stage and havenā€™t been asked for additional documents so feeling fairly optimistic). They wanted the following:

- passport with entry stamp to Vietnam to prove current location (I also printed my hotel booking in Hanoi as proof of location and she kept that as well, but not sure itā€™s necessary)

- visa application form with a photo (you can print it on their website or fill it in there)

- 6 months of bank statements proving the 500,000 thb over the entire period of time (important to note: these have to be in English or an official translation - I initially tried submitting my German bank statements since the numbers and dates are perfectly understandable and the only text in German was the word ā€šbank statementā€˜, my address and the footer - she wouldnā€™t take them)

- employment contract (since my contracts are always six months I submitted my two previous ones in addition to the current one to show Iā€™ve been doing remote work for a while - not sure this was necessary but she seemed to appreciate it and kept those papers as well). She checked the contract specified my salary and also that it mentioned remote work is allowed.

-340$ (they are able to provide change)

Overall it was really easy if youā€™ve got everything prepared! They were friendly and I was in and out of there in about 15min šŸ™‚

Hi! I donā€™t think you need one, but it might be helpful to have if your case is a bit complex or you feel like you need some extra explanation as to why youā€™re submitting particular documents. I wrote a brief one just listing in bullets what Iā€™m submitting for each of the criteria and she did read it, but I donā€™t think itā€™s mandatory. Good luck! šŸ¤ž

thanks for your comment Naomi. I have a small question. Hope you donā€™t mind. May I know how did you write the cover letter? Does it need? Because Iā€™m going to apply tomorrow. šŸ™šŸ»

This is awesome Naomi - congratulations šŸ¤—. I was also wondering- how long did the approval process take?

@Kay ***
it took three working days (excluding the day I submitted as it was late afternoon) :)

I heard Hanoi wanted notarized documents, is that true?
Naomi *********
This was not true for me! Just submitted regular print outs of the above. As long as you donā€™t need translations (which need to be legalized by a notary according to their website) I think you should be fine. This might also differ based on what kind of DTV youā€™re applying for though, so you may want to double check directly with them just to be sure?

Very welcome! :)

no worries! Thatā€™s the right form - you just select ā€˜other visaā€™ :) but donā€™t worry too much about filling it all out (I missed some stuff and she just told me what to write and I did it there during my appointment which wasnā€™t an issue as they spend quite a bit of time checking all the documents are in order so you can use that time to complete the form)

Hey Naomi, hope you don't mind, but I have another small question. Regarding the visa application form, I found one on the thai embassy in Hanoi website, but it's a general one and has no mention of the Dtv visa. Do I use that one or something else

All of them are questions people posted as far as I can see. I'm looking to hear some personal experiences to know what to expect.
