What visa should my son apply for to visit Thailand for 3 months from the US?

My son (21 years old , Indian passport holder) is currently studying in US. He wants to visit us in Bangkok during summer vacation. He is willing to stay here for about 3 months.

Which visa he should apply for? The Washington DC embassy site suggests that he should apply for a tourist visa which is for 60 days and then try to get an extension in Bangkok .

Is it possible to get 30 days extension for Indian passport holder now? ( I know prior to pandemic, it was only 8 days).

Is it still possible to apply for STV ? My son doesn't want to extend it beyond 3 months.

What can be the best option for him?

Maybe check this first, maybe not valid if he is not coming from India but US. At the moment you cannot arrive to Thailand from India.

All the requirements of different visas can be found on the nearest Thai embassy web site.
