What is the best visa option for a 5-month stay in Thailand with plans to return later?
What visa path is best for a 5 month stay? I plan to return after the 5 month stay but my departure will be more than 90 days.
Do a Non-O, extend for a year? But I won’t be able to do the 90 day reporting so doesn’t seem like an option.

I usually stay under 180 days a year at our house in Rawai. But I have had OA or O visas and extensions of permission to stay in the Kingdom for twenty years now. It just makes things easier for us. My wife is Thai and she has a US Green Card. She can’t be out of the US more than 179 days without having an issue, so it works out. With my visa I can have bank accounts, vehicles, my lease, drivers license etc. And the annual fee is ฿1,900, plus the bank statement and letter fee, passport size photos etc.

If you land before the 15. You could do one border run with two extension and you’d be good mate

OPHoping to return in late summer 2027 for a more permanent routine.

Ray Andrasek ok so if you took out the 12 month extension that would work for your return using a re-entry permit

You only do a 90 day report if you are continuously IN Thailand. That's why it's called a 90 day report. If you aren't there it's not relevant.
