What visa options are available for training in Thailand if I'm unmarried and can't reach the embassy?

Hello everyone, I’m traveling to Thailand on 9 September until 3 February (148 days.)

I will be training and fighting at my sponsored Muay Thai gym. Therefore I will be able to provide supporting documents if necessary. However, I have no idea what visa to apply for and I cannot get a hold of the royalty Embassy in London. I’ve received an email back from them with suggestions of Visa types. However they told me I need to have proof of relationship. I’m confused as I’m 19 and unmarried. I’m also not traveling with a guardian or a spouse so I will not be able to provide marriage documents, ( and I’m not 20+) which I believe is a requirement for the DTV Visa.

My partner is also coming for the same amount of days however she will not be training, so I also have no idea what Visa she needs to apply for. I cannot get a hold of them over the phone and I really need some help.

I do have financial documents to provide funds if necessary, so that’s not a problem.

Thank you

The user is seeking visa advice for an upcoming trip to Thailand for Muay Thai training, lasting from 9 September to 3 February (148 days). They are unsure about which visa to apply for since they are 19, unmarried, and not traveling with a guardian or spouse. Community comments suggest applying for a Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV), which allows for a 60-day stay with extensions and requires proof of financial stability and return travel arrangements. It's highlighted that the METV can accommodate their plans if appropriately managed.

To qualify for the METV You need to apply in your home country and show proof of need so basically a ticket out to somewhere nearby close to the 60-day mark that your originally stamped in for and then a ticket back sometime after that, plus there is a financial requirement I believe 20,000 baht

Both of you should get METV (Multi Entry Tourist Visa).

You cannot assume that you can just come to Thailand for whatever (good) reason and for however long you like. Just like many countries Thailand has entry requirements for foreigners and if you do not qualify for an appropriate visa you obviously need to change your plans.

I was asking what visa type I’m eligible to apply for? I’m not assuming anything

FriendlyJaguar6385 As the guy above said an METV will work. 60 day entry then an extension in country for another 30 days. Then you will have to leave the country and come back in for another 60.

FriendlyJaguar6385 I am not an expert on Thai visas but have you looked at the official Thai government page that sets out all the visa options. Having said that I don’t know of any visa that would allow you to stay in Thailand for the length of time you propose

The METV multiple entry tourist visa is perfect for him and his friend. With planning it will give him up to 8 months stay in Thailand with 2 simple BORDER BOUNCES. Apply for it using the Evisa online application system and the UK Thai Embassy.
