Hi Group,

Need some quick advice. I entered TH in Jan ‘19 on a 30 day tourist (no visa) and extended for 30 days in Feb. can I apply for another extension or do I need to make a run? I need to do this by 9 March. I was about to start an application for a non-Imm-o, supporting a Thai child when it looks like I may get an offer with a local company and will need a non-imm-o, Type B, so I put the brakes on the support visa until I know the job situation. Either way I need to fill the gap by Saturday with a second extension or a run. Recommendations?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a second extension on their 30-day tourist visa after already extending once, or if they need to exit Thailand to re-enter for another 30-day visa exemption. The comments provide differing opinions, noting the rules about extensions and visa types, suggesting a more permanent solution through a Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage, and advising on border runs to extend stay.

okay first off there is no such thing as a Non-Immigrant-O visa type B :O

You can get a Non-Immigrant Type O visa (the O means Other) based on marriage to a thai AND you can legally work and hold a work permit on that type of visa. So NO need to get a Non-B visa.

I would say go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao and get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage. That consulate does NOT require proof of funds (so you don't need the 400K baht in the bank).

On that visa you will get stamped in for 90 days, then when that 90 days is up you go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country then stamp right back into thailand to get a new 90 day stamp. You do that for the whole year the visa is valid for.

OR

If all you're wanting to do is buy yourself 30 days and assuming you haven't done TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land yet this year):

go to the border, stamp out of thailand stamp in&out of another country and stamp right back into thailand to get a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.

From Bangkok the closest border to bounce at is the Phu Nam Ron border in Kanchanaburi province. There are companies that lug people there every day or you can do it yourself.

Have you applied for the 60 day support a thai child yet?

Not 100% sure if can do on the 30 day visa exempt but is possible to extend an extension on a Tourist visa.

Hopefully the wise ones will be able to answer this more accurately.

Has the company checked if they can apply for your WP if you already have a Non-O visa/extension without changing to a Non-B?

Tod Daniels I’m addressing the point where Steve is putting aside his Non-O application because the company says he needs a Non-B for the WP. Assuming he is ready to apply for the Non-O, he could submit the application immediately and be put under consideration, no need for a border run, correct?

They do NOT have anything at this time. They entered on a 30 day visa exempt, they extended that for 30 days and they've used up that time.

I'm quite sure that you're entitled to an other week or so... It's basically a refusal to provide a full second extension

You must make a run. No added extension is available as you have already used it.
